Optimum Group are delighted to have secured and commenced work on two exciting new projects in the centre of Bristol.

We have recently started work on the first of these projects, Baldwin Street Student Accommodation, with new client Beard Construction. This residential development will include 92 new student accommodation studios over 5 storeys, as well as a retail unit and communal space. The building, which has been empty since 2010, was most recently known as The Sports Café and has now been completely stripped back to the concrete frame whilst retaining its original street facing façade.

Optimum will be responsible for the internal lightweight partitioning, drylining, suspended secondary ceilings and SFS (steel frame systems) on this historic Bristol building with works due to complete in November 2020.

Just across the city is our second new business win, Castle Park View. This is a significant and much anticipated 375 apartment mixed ownership residential development in the City centre. Once completed, it will be a landmark figure on the Bristol skyline and will include the tallest residential structure in the city.

Working on behalf of new client Bouygues UK, Optimum will be carrying out the internal partitioning, drylining, suspended ceilings and SFS works on this project with an estimated contract value of £4.55 million over 69 weeks.

Optimum Group Operations Director Matthew Davies commented –

“We would like to thank our project and estimating teams for continuing to work tirelessly (from home) during the recent lockdown and our suppliers SIG, Minster, CCF, Rite-Fix, Metsec and others for all their help and logistical consistency during the pandemic”

In securing both Baldwin Street and Castle Park View, we are fortunate to be working on four major, live residential developments (including ND6/7 & Redcliff Quarter) in the heart of Bristol during such uncertain times.

Once again, we would like to express our wholehearted thanks to all of the remarkable suppliers who have continued to supply materials and equipment to our sites throughout this difficult time, but more importantly, to all our staff. Thank you for bearing with us whilst we try our best to plan for what’s ahead.
