As a trade contractor, we rarely get the chance to see the direct impact of our work on the people that eventually inhabit the homes, offices, schools and hospitals we help to build.
So, we feel especially proud of the chance to contribute to the planned early takeover of the ward’s area of the Grange University Hospital (SCCC) in Llanfrechfa near Cwmbran.
Work is now underway to temporarily commission parts of the new super hospital which will open a year early from the planned public opening date and six months quicker than the programme, to provide an additional 350 beds by the end of April to help tackle the Coronavirus pandemic.
In line with new safety guidelines, the main contractor Laing O’Rourke has implemented stringent measures across the site to ensure the safety of all keyworkers including the purchase this week of a substantial quantity of hospital grade hand sanitiser, purchased as a collaboration between Optimum, Hazelwood Carpentry and Laing O’Rourke, as a true example of one-team working together.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Optimum Fire Stopping and Drywall Systems site teams, alongside fellow contractors, who are working tirelessly in the joint effort to get this project open by the end of this month.
