It’s not very often we get an opportunity to work with a product that’s application is a first for the manufacturer and never previously installed anywhere else in the world but that’s exactly what Optimum Combined Services had the pleasure of recently installing for main-contractor client R&M Williams.
R&M Williams we’re tasked with meeting exacting acoustic standards within the new administration building at Bristol Airport, whilst also obtaining a cost-effective solution to provide an acoustic rated raft ceiling. Several systems were considered with Optimum proposing the use of a Knauf AMF product. The ‘Hexagon’ design, a world-first for Knauf AMF, provided both the visual impact and acoustic performance required for this high-grade project. However, it was not without concern as this was the first time that the system had been utilised on such a large area.
Designers Stride Treglown worked with Knauf AMF to define a plan to incorporate each of the 400 hexagon raft-panels individually set-out to coordinate with mechanical and electrical services. This stunning product requires a high-quality installation and the precision of the installer is critical to the completed project, as all distances between the rafts had to be kept exact.
R&M Managing Director Darryn Parry commented: “The accuracy and workmanship of the installation required from Optimum was faultless with all parties client, principal contractor and designers all delighted with the completed installation, which has exceeded expectations.”
Oliver Peat, Bristol Airports Senior Project Manager commented: “Knauf have provided a fantastic end product that met our comprehensive acoustic specification alongside meeting our interior designers brief in terms of both quality and aesthetics. Optimum OCS’s installation was meticulous which can be seen from the quality of the finished installation which surpassed expectations”
